These are chairs that never go unnoticed thanks to the genius of Harry Bertoia. Chairs are constructed of welded chrome plated steel, yet in soft contoured shapes, they are awe-inspiring. The Wire Chair collection gets its unique from a man who began his career as a designer of handmade jewelry. The most famous of these pieces is the wire diamond shaped chair.
The chairs, while it could not be mass-produced because of its intricate welded steel rods, sold well enough that Bertoia could dedicate his time to sculpture. He became fascinated with the way metal produced sound and how he could change its shape to generate various timbres. Eventually, he produced albums of the music he was able to create from the metallic experimentations which were uniquely Bertoia. Chairs however, are the designs for which he is most famous today.
